This picture was sent to Fred by his buddy Dan Birck. They are long-time friends, as you will see!! Mrs. Mickey offered some explanation:
Dan Birck ( He and Brenda were in Texas last summer) and Fred played Slow-Pitch Softball at Bentwaters Air Force Base in England . The photo is of the Bentwaters’ Phantoms team. One of the Air Force fighter planes in the early 70’s was the “Phantom”, thus the team name. There were many AF bases in England at the time and there were “leagues” of sorts, tournaments, etc. Dan played 3rd base and Fred played 1st base. Brenda and I were side line cheerleaders.
